Plans and billing

What a plan limits, what happens when you reach a limit, and how payment will work once paid plans open.

Paid plans are not open yet. The plan names, limits and prices on the pricing page are placeholders and may change. This article describes how plans work in the app as it is built.

What a plan limits

A plan sets five things. The pricing page has the current numbers.

  • How many projects you keep. Projects in Trash do not count.
  • How many AI walkthroughs and website analyses you can start in a calendar month. The count goes back to zero on the 1st.
  • The longest recording that will be narrated, in minutes.
  • The longest a share link can last.
  • Whether AI narration is included.

AI narration

Pro and Studio include AI narration. Vistralo writes it with OpenAI and speaks it with HeyGen on its own accounts, so you need no keys and neither company bills you for it. Each AI walkthrough counts towards the monthly number. If you save your own keys in Settings, your jobs run on them and the providers bill you.

On Free, you add your own OpenAI and HeyGen API keys, and each provider bills you for what you use. See OpenAI and HeyGen keys.

When you reach a limit

The app tells you which limit it was and what lifts it, with "Not now" and "See plans" as the choices. Nothing you already have is taken away.

  • At the project limit, move a project to Trash or choose a larger plan.
  • At the monthly limit, wait for the 1st or choose a larger plan. A job that fails or is cancelled gives its place back.
  • A recording longer than your plan narrates is still saved and can still be shared. Trim it to fit, or choose a larger plan.
  • For a link, choose a shorter expiry.

Where plans are shown

When plans are switched on: on the "Plans" page, under "Billing" in Settings, and from "Plan and billing" in the workspace menu.

Paying

Payment will go through Paddle, which sells the subscription. Paddle shows the price for your country with any tax, takes the payment, sends the receipt and holds your card details. Vistralo does not receive your card number.

Changing or cancelling

A change of plan takes effect straight away. To cancel, use "Cancel subscription" under Billing, which opens Paddle's page for it. You keep the plan until the end of the period you have paid for.

If a payment fails

The app shows "Your last payment did not go through" with "Update payment method". You keep your plan while the payment is retried.

Refunds and terms

The terms and the refund policy are still being written and have not been published. Until they are, write to contact@vistralo.com with any question about a charge.

"Test checkout"

In the demo, choosing a paid plan opens a stand-in for the payment page. No card is asked for and no money moves.
