Vistralo/Help/Recording

The floating controls

A small window that stays above your other windows, so you can pause or stop without going back to Vistralo.

When you record a window or a screen, you are usually looking at something other than the Vistralo tab. The floating controls are a small window titled "Vistralo recording" that stays on top of everything else. It has the same timer and the same buttons as the controls in the page.

When it opens

It opens when you press "Start recording" on the "Set up your recording" screen. That screen tells you which you will get:

  • "Recording controls float above your other windows, so you can switch away from this tab."
  • "Recording controls stay at the bottom of this tab."

When you share a whole tab, recording starts at once and the controls stay in the Vistralo tab. Press "Float controls above other windows" there if you want the small window.

Does it appear in the recording?

If you share a single tab or a single window, no. If you share your whole screen, anything on that screen is recorded, the floating window included. Move it to a second monitor or to the edge, or use the in-page controls.

After you stop from another tab

The floating window shows "Recording stopped" and a "Back to Vistralo" button that returns you to the app, where the recording is being saved.

If your browser does not have it

The controls stay at the bottom of the Vistralo tab. The tab's title and icon still show that a recording is live, so you can find your way back.
