A recording left unsaved

If the tab closed or the upload failed before a recording was saved, a copy is kept in your browser to recover.

When you press Stop, Vistralo first writes a recovery copy of the recording into this browser's storage. If the tab then closes, the connection drops or the save fails, the take is not lost.

Getting it back

The next time you open a recording form, Vistralo shows the recovered take in place of the browser's share dialog. You can play it, and the message reads: "This is an unsaved recording from" followed by its date, then "Save or download it, or discard it to record a new one."

  • "Create Walkthrough" or "Save recording" saves it as a project.
  • "Download" saves the video file to your computer.
  • "Discard" deletes it. It asks first: "Discard this recording?" with "Keep it" as the other answer.

If the take includes your microphone, it says so and saves without starting AI narration.

What to know about the copy

  • There is room for one. Until you save, download or discard it, it is what the recording form shows.
  • It lives in this browser on this computer. It is not in your account, and another browser or device will not see it.
  • Clearing the browser's site data removes it.

If the browser has no room

When the copy cannot be written, the app says: "The recording is ready, but browser recovery storage is full or unavailable. Download a copy before closing this page." Do that before anything else.
